Ethan Nwaneri has been given a mentor from the Arsenal first-team by Mikel Arteta. The teenage wonderkid is set to extend his stay in North London and the Arsenal manager is already plotting for his long-term future.

Nwaneri became the youngest player ever to feature in a Premier League game last season when he was brought off the bench at just 15-years-old. The midfielder was introduced late on against Brentford back in November 2022 to make his senior debut.

The midfielder made his second Premier League appearance this season as he came off the bench in the 6-0 thrashing of West Ham United. Ethan Nwaneri’s first-team opportunities have been hard to come by since, however there’s no doubt there will be many more to come in the near future.

The Arsenal players were the ones urging Mikel Arteta to bring Nwaneri on against West Ham. This shows just how highly rated the youngster is held within the Gunners’ senior squad.

According to the Daily Mail, Nwaneri will sign his first professional contract with the North London club, with an official announcement expected in the coming days. Meanwhile, he is also being “mentored” by club captain Martin Odegaard.

Martin Odgeaard, being the Arsenal captain, seems to be the ideal role model for Ethan Nwaneri to learn from. From the outside looking in, the Norwegian midfielder comes across as the perfect professional.

Odegaard is a captain who does his talking on the pitch. He’s constantly Arsenal’s hardest-working player with him leading the press and he’s always the player Mikel Arteta turns to when he wants something altering.

If Ethan Nwaneri can follow in Martin Odegaard’s footsteps then there’s no doubt he will become a key player for Mikel Arteta in the new future.

The 17-year-old is the only player Arteta has given his professional debut to so far during his four-year stint as Arsenal manager, which shows how much faith he has in the teenager.
