Following Arsenal’s goalless draw away to Manchester City last Sunday, manager Mikel Arteta has become the first Premier League manager ever to achieve a sensational feat.

The result means that Arteta has become the first Premier League manager of all time to complete a season unbeaten against both Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side, a feat yet to be achieved by any other manager.

On top of last week’s 0-0 draw at the Etihad, Arsenal beat the Cityzens 1-0 in the reverse fixture back in October, while the Gunners beat Liverpool 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium in February and held them to a 1-1 draw at Anfield last December.

Arsenal could yet face Manchester City again this season, with the sides drawn against each other in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, if they can first win their respective quarterfinal ties.

So good was Arsenal’s display at the Etihad last Sunday, that they also ended Manchester City’s 57-game streak of scoring in consecutive home games, a sign of the Gunners’ strong defensive work.

Despite this incredible record against the current title contenders, Arsenal currently find themselves two points behind Liverpool, who are top of the league, and Opta have given the North Londoners just an 18.8% chance of lifting the title come May.
