Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has expressed confidence ahead of their upcoming Champions League quarter-final clash against Bayern Munich, despite the daunting challenge posed by German champions.

The Gunners, buoyed by an impressive victory over Brighton on Saturday, have been in scintillating form, winning 10 of their 11 Premier League matches since the start of the year and conceding only four goals. This resurgence has reignited their title challenge and filled them with belief as they prepare to take on familiar foes Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich, who suffered a setback in their Bundesliga campaign after a surprising defeat to Heidenheim, are now pinning their hopes on the Champions League to salvage their season. With their Bundesliga title hopes fading, Bayern sees the European competition as their only chance to secure silverware this season.

Ahead of the crucial clash, Odegaard emphasised Arsenal’s respect for their opponent but asserted that they do not fear any opponent. He acknowledged that Bayern are a good side but remained focused on the strength of Arsenal and quality as a team.

“Every game we play, there are good challenges. Bayern are a good team with lots of attacking players, and it’s going to be a big night at the Emirates,” said Ødegaard. Despite Bayern’s recent erratic form in the league, Odegaard recognises their quality and expects a tough battle.

“Every game we play there are good challenges. Bayern are a good team with lots of good attacking players and it’s going to be a big night at the Emirates.

“They’ve had some strange results in the league and we have seen that. But if you look at the team and see the quality they have then we know they are a really strong side with really good individual players as well so it’s going to be a tough battle, but we are ready.”

Reflecting on Arsenal’s recent victory against Brighton, Odegaard highlighted the team’s solid performance and unity in defence. The win against a strong Brighton side, previously unbeaten in 14 home matches, has further boosted Arsenal’s confidence as they head into the Champions League showdown.

“It’s big win. This is a difficult place to come against a good team and it was a very solid performance, so we are happy. As a team we defend the box – in the last minute you saw how we celebrated the action to keep a clean sheet. So there are some good signs there.”

Arsenal fans are eagerly anticipating their team’s first appearance at this stage of the competition since 2010, with Odegaard’s confidence adding to the excitement surrounding the tie.
