Following Arsenal’s commanding 3-0 victory over Bournemouth, midfielder Martin Odegaard lauded Declan Rice’s transformative influence on the team, saying that the club are fortunate to have the midfielder among their ranks.

Rice’s stellar performance included a late goal to seal Arsenal’s triumph, adding to strikes from Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard. His exquisite assist for Trossard’s goal earned him the man-of-the-match accolade, with Arsenal legend Ian Wright hailing Rice’s big contribution as the “difference” maker this season.

Echoing Wright’s sentiments, club captain Odegaard commended Rice’s seamless integration into the squad and his enhanced attacking contributions. Speaking to Sky Sports, Odegaard highlighted Rice’s evolution, stating, “To come to a new club is never easy but he’s just come in the most natural way.

“The way he’s playing, adding goals and assists as well now, so I think he’s taken his game to another level and we’re so lucky to have him. He has given us so much in so many areas. Brilliant player.”

Despite Manchester City remaining hot on their heels in the title race, trailing by just a point with a game in hand, Odegaard urged Arsenal fans to maintain belief until the season’s conclusion. He stated the team’s determination to push until the last day, echoing the sentiment of unity and resilience within the squad.

“Just keep believing and keep pushing us. We’ll push and we’ll do everything until the last day and we’ll see what happens.”

In his post-match remarks, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta credited the impact of summer signings including Rice, alongside Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber, and David Raya, for elevating the team’s performance levels.

Arteta underscored the significance of strategic recruitment, emphasising its positive influence on both individual performances and team dynamics.

“The summer signings have raised the bar a lot,’ the Spaniard said. “If we spend money we’d better do it wisely and in the most effective way. We’re really happy with the recruitment that we had. It had a big impact in the team.

“It has raised not only the level of the team but the level of the rest of the players, as well. You see today we had some big performances from a lot of individuals.”
