As we near the end of the season, a lot of transfer rumours are coming alive with the Gunners set to have another very busy summer transfer window. Arsenal spent over £200million on four new signings ahead of the 2023/24 campaign and they’re expected to have a similar budget this time around.

However the club are also expected to be very busy with outgoings as well. Mikel Arteta’s lack of rotation at times this season suggests he still doesn’t trust some of the more fringe players in the squad.

The Gunners seem to have run out steam again towards the end of the campaign, following their Champions League exit to Bayern Munich earlier this week. Mikel Arteta left several big names on the bench at the Allianz with many players’ futures in doubt ahead of the summer window.

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has claimed Mikel Arteta may need to utilise his squad better in the final six games of the season, if the Gunners are to go on and win their first Premier League title in 20 years.

The Gunners legend thinks the Arsenal manger could use Thomas Partey, Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira more in the coming weeks, and if he does not, then all three could end up leaving in the summer.

Arsenal stars Thomas Partey and Emile Smith Rowe

Martin Keown: “I think it’s a case of when you come to the end of the season, we will start looking at the likes of Vieira, who we have not really seen, we have looked at Partey who doesn’t really give you a bill of health, the security that he is able to play, you look at Smith Rowe. Is he able to cope with the competition where he is not playing? Because it’s difficult.”

“These are things that if you win the Premier League, maybe some of these guys will stay in there, but the decisions will be made at the end of the season.”

Thomas Partey has only started four Premier League games this season, with three of them coming in August. The 30-year-old only has one year left on his current contract and he is expected to leave the club this summer.

Fabio Vieira isn’t a player rumoured to leave North London, however following his £34million move from FC Porto last year, he was expected to have a much bigger impact than what we’ve currently seen.

The Portuguese international has showed glimpses of the talent he has, however Mikel Arteta will want to see it on a more consistent basis if he is to be an Arsenal regular in the near future.

For Emile Smith Rowe, he’s once again struggled for consistent game time this season. If a reasonable offer comes in for him this summer then Arsenal might be more inclined to accept it, following his recurring injury problems over the last two years.

Arsenal have six games to go in the Premier League, with Wolves up next on Saturday evening. The Gunners currently sit two points behind league leaders Manchester City.
