As kickoff fast approaches, it has been confirmed that Manchester City will be without a key player due to injury as they face Arsenal this afternoon.

Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson has not been named in the Cityzens’ matchday squad, having suffered an injury prior to the international break, in a big blow for the treble holders.

His absence comes as a shock, given what manager Pep Guardiola had to say ahead of the game, when he said: “Ederson is much better.”

John Stones and Kyle Walker were both also major doubts for the game through injury, but Stones has been deemed fit enough for a place on the bench, despite Walker missing out entirely.

Arsenal had their own injury fears ahead of the game, though these concerns have been eased with the news that Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Magalhaes are fit to start, while Gabriel Martinelli is able to be on the bench.

Given that many anticipate that this game will go a long way to decide the destination of this year’s Premier League title, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be thrilled to see some of his most important players able to partake in the game.

With kickoff less than an hour away, news of this injury blow to Manchester City will be music to the ears of Arsenal fans, who know that their side have not won in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium since 2015.
