Arsenal host Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, as the Gunners will look to restore the gap between the two sides fighting for the title.

The two outfits met just last month, as Liverpool beat the home side 2-0 to progress to the FA Cup fourth round. Prior to the encounter, the sides met in the festive period, as both teams had to settle with a point, despite the multiple opportunities to walk away with all three.

The Gunners currently sit five points behind Jurgen Klopp’s men, but if Arsenal secure a victory, that would be reduced to just two. Of course, Pep Guardiola’s incredible Manchester City side also have hopes of lifting the trophy in May, and Arsenal’s trip to the Etihad will be crucial later in the campaign.

Liverpool are coming into the game after a 4-1 victory, where Uruguayan striker, Darwin Núñez, topped off his incredible performance with an assist. However, the first Premier League player to reach both 10+ goals and assists in all competitions this season may not be available to face Mikel Arteta’s side.

In the pre-match press conference before the clash, Jurgen Klopp told the press, “He left the stadium in a boot and it was not a football boot.”

The German boss, who is leaving the The Reds at the end of the 2023/24 season then expanded, “Nothing broken the x-rays are clear, but we have to see if he can get his foot back into a boot.”

With the injury to Darwin Núñez, Klopp may present an attacking three consisting of; Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz this weekend.

Liverpool do not just have to account for the loss of their starting striker, but Mohammed Salah and Thiago Alcantara are other players in the squad who will be missing for the encounter, whilst Wataru Endo continues to represent his country at the AFC Asian Cup.

It’s also been revealed on Saturday night that Dominik Szoboszlai is also not with the squad in London to face Arsenal tomorrow. That means Jurgen Klopp’s side will have to beat the Gunners without four key players tomorrow afternoon.
