In a resounding declaration of supremacy, Leandro Trossard proclaimed “London is red!” following Arsenal’s stunning 5-0 triumph over Chelsea.

The assertion, posted on his Instagram account, resonated deeply as Arsenal notched their most significant victory over the Blues on Tuesday night. This commanding performance now places them a staggering 17 points ahead of their North London rivals, Tottenham, in the Premier League standings.

The comprehensive win at the Emirates Stadium propelled Arsenal to the top of the league table, setting the stage for a crucial clash against Tottenham this weekend, which could have profound implications for the title race.

Trossard ignited the scoring spree against Mauricio Pochettino’s side, with Kai Havertz and Ben White each contributing a brace to seal Arsenal’s dominant victory. With this triumph, Mikel Arteta’s squad secured their 16th clean sheet of the season, solidifying their reputation for possessing the stingiest defence in the division.

“They say clean sheets help you win games and that’s what it is,” the Belgian said. “We know if we score a goal then a lot of times we can win by 1-0, but obviously we want to go for more.

“Today was the perfect night, where we scored loads of goals. It’s credit to everyone because everyone works so hard defensively, attackers, midfielders, and we are just one team and you can see that on and off the pitch.”

Arsenal’s demolition of Chelsea not only showcased their defensive strength but also significantly bolstered their league-best goal difference. With the title race heating up and the top teams closely matched, this advantage could prove pivotal in the seasons’ closing stages.

Currently boasting a goal difference of 56, Arsenal outshine their closest competitors, with Liverpool trailing by 13 goals and Manchester City by 12. However, both challengers have games in hand, intensifying the competition at the summit of the Premier League.

In a testament to the team’s collective effort, Ben White highlighted the defensive contributions of Arsenal’s wingers. While his own attacking prowess has been evident in recent weeks, White emphasised the importance of the wingers’ defensive diligence, underscoring their integral role in maintaining clean sheets.
