Arsenal star, Kai Havertz started Germany’s game against Turkey tonight at left-back. In possession he will take up a place in the midfield, but when Germany don’t have the ball he will operate on the left of the defensive line.
Germany manager, Julian Nagelsmann confirmed the player will start at left-back tonight: “We have different formations. Kai won’t always be in this position. I have a great idea for him because he’s an exceptionally good footballer.
“This is a very good option. He won’t always play as a classic left-back.”
Germany starting XI: Trapp, Henrichs, Tah, Rudiger, Havertz, Kimmich, Gundogan, Wirtz, Brandt, Sane, Fullkrug.
Kai Havertz actually scored the opening goal from left-back to give his side the lead after being set-up by Leroy Sane in the opening ten minutes of the match.

Arsenal face Brentford after the international break and there’s no doubt Mikel Arteta will be keeping a close eye on Kai Havertz’ performance in his new position for his country tonight. Could we see the German operate in a similar position at club level after the break?
