Arsenal fans could witness the return of Jurrien Timber to the squad as the Gunners gear up to face Bournemouth in the Premier League this Saturday.

The 22-year-old defender has been sidelined since sustaining an ACL injury during the season opener against Nottingham Forest. However, recent developments suggest Timber is on the brink of a comeback, having showcased promising signs in his recovery.

Having featured twice for the Under-21 side, including a standout performance against Blackburn Rovers where he found the net with a stunning strike, Timber’s return to action has been eagerly anticipated. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had hinted at Timber’s inclusion in previous fixtures, and now, according to reports from The Evening Standard, the Dutchman is poised to make his Premier League return against Bournemouth.

Timber’s recent involvement in team training sessions, coupled with his successful outings for the developmental side, has bolstered hopes of his imminent return. Arsenal medical staff are reportedly satisfied with his progress and are prepared to declare him fit for the upcoming clash.

While Arsenal boast a formidable defensive setup, Arteta has emphasised Timber’s unique attacking qualities, highlighting his ability to influence the game from the backline. The manager expressed his anticipation for Timber’s return, citing the Dutchman’s versatility and offensive contributions as valuable assets to the team.

“Jurrien is a main one because he has a quality that nobody else has in the backline to actually effect, especially in the attacking phases, things that we do, in both positions or three positions.”

Echoing Arteta’s sentiments, Jurrien Timber himself expressed eagerness to contribute to Arsenal’s campaign after enduring a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Determined to make an impact in the final stretch of the season, Timber conveyed his excitement at the prospect of rejoining his teammates and playing a role in their pursuit of success.

“I can’t wait, the season is almost finished, we’ve got a few more games left and I hope to be a part of the team for the final few matches.

“The last couple of weeks have been tough, but, we are still in the mix and have every chance to win it. I’m glad that I can finally be part of it. Let’s see what the next couple of weeks bring, I hope it’s something beautiful.”
