Ben White has endured a successful season for the Gunners so far this campaign, since slotting into the right back position & Liverpool legend, John Barnes agrees.
The England international has become a crucial part of Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad as White has most definitely staked a claim as one of the best full-backs in the league this season.
Throughout recent seasons we have seen a resurgence in the right-back position with the likes of Trent, Cancelo and Reece James becoming the face of the position within the Premier League. However Liverpool legend John Barnes believes Ben White offers something different to the others…
John Barnes told BonusCodeBets:
“Ben White has given Arsenal some defensive strength. Arsenal has been a bit thrills at the back previously. But he is a very good defender and he gives a lot to the balance of the team.
He makes Arsenal feel comfortable when the opponents put in crosses because he normally is a centre half. No, he is not a Trent Alexander-Arnold who runs up and down the line all the time.
But he gives them something different which allows the attacking players to focus more on the attacking parts of the game.”

Although Barnes praises the Arsenal right backs defensive work, downplaying his attacking attributes would be harsh. White has registered 2 more assists than Trent Alexander Arnold this season as well as offering himself as a constant threat on the overlap.
Linking up play with Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødeegard has been a frequent feature of Arsenal attacks this season. From supplying pinpoint crosses to scoring a couple of goals at the back post more recently, he’s becoming the true definition of an all rounded full-back!
Ben White came under huge pressure when he arrived in North London from Brighton for a fee of £50m, especially after his debut at Brentford. However he’s come a long way since then and since moving to right back this season he’s thriving and has been a big reason why Arsenal currently find themselves top of the Premier League.
As Arsenal now head into their final nine league games of the season their fans will definitely be hoping their tidy technical right back continues his fine form to see them through to the finish line.
