Arsenal are facing lots of criticism at the moment following a run of poor results and former striker Ian Wright has labeled the team ‘mentally weak’ after another poor performance which ended in a defeat on Sunday.

The Gunners, needing a performance and a victory to turn around their fortune, produced one of their worst performances in the Premier League this season which ended in a 2-1 defeat at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

The day started brightly for the Gunners when Bukayo Saka got on the end of Gabriel Martinelli’s shot which was pushed to his path from former Gunner Bernd Leno to put the visitors in front.

After taking the lead, Arsenal allowed Fulham to dominate play and were rewarded with an equaliser in the 29th minute when Raul Jimenez found the back of the net for a deserved leveller.

Fulham continued to dominate in the second half and Bobby De Cordova-Reid scored in the 59th minute to win the game for the West Londoners. The defeat means Liverpool could go five points clear of Arsenal in the title race if they beat Newcastle United on New Year’s day.

The Gunners’ lackluster performance left Ian Wright unimpressed, suggesting that Mikel Arteta has a lot to ponder heading into January.

While pundit Paul Merson maintained an optimistic stance, urging Arsenal to secure the services of Ivan Toney, Wright took a more critical view. The former striker, known for his candid assessments, labeled the current Arsenal squad as ‘mentally weak.’

“Arsenal looked very tired, looked like they were out of ideas and mentally weak. Coming off a poor result against West Ham, there was no response to that.

“There’s something lacking for Arsenal at the moment; they look very lethargic, the front men aren’t sharp, and Arsenal always look like there’s a chance of beating them. They should be doing a lot better than this,” Wright expressed.
