In yet another dominating display, Arsenal secured a resounding 5-0 victory over Burnley in the Premier League, further solidifying their position as title contenders and narrowing the gap with leaders Liverpool to a mere two points.

The Gunners exhibited their superiority throughout the match, with Bukayo Saka’s brace leading the charge in a classy performance at the Emirates Stadium.

The onslaught began early as Martin Odegaard opened the scoring just four minutes into the game, displaying Arsenal’s intent to seize control. Saka then doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Leandro Trossard was fouled by Burnley’s Maxime Esteve. Saka continued his hot streak, netting his second goal shortly after halftime, bringing his tally to an impressive seven goals in his last six Premier League appearances. Trossard and Kai Havertz also contributed to the goal fest, ensuring Arsenal’s tally reached 21 goals in just five matches since the winter break.

Despite Burnley’s attempts to gain momentum in the early stages, Arsenal’s counter-attacking prowess proved too much to handle. Declan Rice initiated the first breakthrough, setting up Gabriel Martinelli, whose cross found Odegaard for the opening goal. Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford managed to deny Trossard’s subsequent attempt, but Arsenal relentless pressure eventually led to Saka’s penalty conversion, doubling their advantage before halftime.

The second half saw a continuation of Arsenal’s dominance, with Saka and Trossard adding to Burnley’s misery with well-executed goals. Burnley’s woes were compounded further as Aaron Ramsey succumbed to a knee injury, necessitating his departure from the field on a stretcher.

Despite the commendable performances from Saka and the goalscorers, it was Martin Odegaard’s midfield masterclass that drew praise from former Arsenal player Ian Wright. Odegaard’s stellar display, which included two assists within the first 50 minutes, underscored his role in Arsenal recent successes. Wright took to social media to laud Odegaard’s impact, highlighting his instrumental contributions to Arsenal’s formidable midfield alongside Declan Rice.

He posted on X: “Odegaard been so good.”
