Gary Neville has voiced his disappointment with one Arsenal player despite the team securing a vital 1-0 win at Old Trafford under Mikel Arteta’s guidance.

In a rare triumph at Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, Arsenal kept their title aspirations alive with Leandro Trossard’s first-half strike proving decisive, followed by resolute defensive efforts to preserve the lead. The victory marked a significant departure from Arsenal’s previous struggles at Old Trafford, with only one win in their past 16 visits.

While the win keeps the Gunners in contention, they will rely on Manchester City to drop points in their upcoming clash with Tottenham Hotspur or on the final day of the season. However, Arsenal must also remain focused on their final match against Everton.

Despite the crucial three points secured against Manchester United, Gary Neville remarked on Martin Odegaard’s subdued performance during the match. Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville emphasised the need for Arsenal to involve Odegaard more in the game, noting his relatively quiet presence on the pitch.

He said: “Arsenal need to get Odegaard on the ball, he’s been a bit quiet in this game. They need him.”

Odegaard, who has been instrumental for the team this season with 20 goal involvements in 46 appearances, received criticism for his performance against United. While his overall contribution cannot be discounted, his impact during the match was limited. According to SofaScore, Odegaard received a match rating of 6.9, jointly the lowest among Arsenal players alongside Thomas Partey and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Despite his subdued performance, Odegaard’s work rate and contribution to Arsenal’s defensive efforts cannot be overlooked. While he may not have been at his best against United, his presence remains crucial to Arsenal’s overall game plan.
