England coach Gareth Southgate will reportedly drop Arsenal defender, Benjamin White from the Three Lions squad for the upcoming international break.

White has been in impressive form this season with Arsenal, and Mikel Arteta has declared him available for selection.

The Three Lions boss is due to name his squad for the matches against Italy and Ukraine this afternoon, but it remains to be seen whether the versatile defender makes the cut.

White was part of England’s FIFA World Cup squad in Qatar, but left camp midway through the tournament amidst a row with Southgate.

The Mirror report that White, 25, is not due to be called up, with Kyle Walker, Kierian Trippier and Fikayo Tomori in line for a place in the squad.

Despite playing predominantly as a right-back this season, White joined Arsenal from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2021 as a central defender for a fee of £50 million and was impressive in that role alongside Gabriel in his first season in red and white.

He is highly regarded and considered a superior option among other defenders available to Southgate. But, the England manager has consistently picked Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire, who has started only one game in the Premier League since January 3 and Manchester City centre-back John Stones

Ben White received his first England call up in 2021 and has made just four appearances for the Three Lions, all in friendly matches.

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta says Ben White is available for selection for the national team.

“He’s available for us so for sure, he will be available for the England squad. As far as I’m concerned, he’s been in really good form, he’s been available for every single match and he’s been performing really well for us.”
