Gabriel Jesus has thrown his support behind an Arsenal teammate, tipping him to ascend to the ranks of the world’s best ahead of a pivotal Premier League encounter against Manchester United. 

The Gunners are gearing up to maintain pressure on title rivals Manchester City as they set their sights on Old Trafford for a showdown with the struggling United side on Sunday afternoon.

Despite Manchester United’s recent struggles, sitting in eighth place in the Premier League standings, Arsenal remain vigilant, determined to secure their first league title in two decades. With an impressive tally of 83 points from 36 games, Mikel Arteta’s side has forged their success on a formidable defensive foundation, conceding just 28 goals this season, the fewest in the league.

Speaking highly of Saliba’s sharpness and defensive acumen, Jesus emphasised the Frenchman’s special talent and his seamless partnership with Gabriel.

“It’s hard to play against him! I’ve never played against him in a match, only in training, but even then it’s hard because he’s so sharp and hard to beat,” Jesus remarked. “We are all working hard to improve, and if he carries on doing that, he can be one of the best, for sure. He’s very special.”

As Arsenal brace for the challenge of facing Manchester United at Old Trafford, Jesus expressed confidence in Saliba and Gabriel’s ability to emulate the defensive prowess of Arsenal legends like Sol Campbell and Tony Adams. Recognising the duo’s ongoing improvement, Jesus highlighted their importance, particularly in challenging away fixtures against top-tier opposition.

“For sure! The way they play together is so important, and defending is hard, especially away from home, against top teams. I think they’re still getting better and will carry on getting better.”

Following their clash with Manchester United, Arsenal’s title pursuit culminates with a final-day encounter against Everton, as they aim to maintain momentum and secure a historic Premier League triumph.
