Former Arsenal star Freddie Ljungberg has lauded the performance of Kai Havertz, expressing admiration for the player’s technical prowess despite previous scepticism surrounding his abilities.

In Arsenal’s resounding victory over Sheffield United, where they secured a 6-0 win at Bramall Lane, Havertz showcased his talent with a superb goal in the first half. Ljungberg, observing the match, was notably impressed by the performance of the Arsenal number 29.

Reflecting on Havertz’s journey, Ljungberg acknowledged the initial confusion surrounding the player’s move from Chelsea to Arsenal last summer. Despite doubts and criticisms, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta demonstrated faith in Havertz, persisting with him during challenging times and ultimately reaping the rewards of his perseverance.

Havertz’s recent form has been a testament to his resilience and ability, with the 24-year-old scoring in his third consecutive Premier League game against Sheffield United.

Ljungberg, speaking on Premier League Productions, highlighted the player’s exceptional left foot and praised his composure in front of goal.

“I think he has a great left foot. I don’t care what people say, like he’s a success or not a success. His technical ability is great I think.

“When he’s calm, like this, he just buries it. It was easy to get the wrong spin on the ball and it goes outside the post. He hits it cleanly, calmly. Great goal!”

Havertz arrived at Arsenal from Chelsea last summer for a reported £65 million deal which raised eyebrows. He struggled in the first few months in North London and had many questioning the hefty amount spent to move him across the capital.

Amidst initial scrutiny and criticism, Havertz has emerged as a key contributor for Arsenal, silencing doubters with his impressive performances. The German international has demonstrated his worth, directly contributing to 11 goals in all competitions and has shown versatility in his game which was lacking in Granit Xhaka, a player was brought in to replace at Arsenal.
