Former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva has expressed his desire to make a return to the club if the need arises. 

Silva, a key figure in Arsenal’s history, played a crucial role in the team’s success during his six years at the club which included the historic 2003-2004 season, when the Gunners clinched the Premier League title without suffering a single defeat.

The midfielder joined Arsenal from Brazilian side Atlético Mineiro for a reported £4.5 million in 2002, and proved to be instrumental in the team’s unbeaten run, featuring in 32 out of 38 Premier League matches during that historic season.

Now, with Edu, a fellow member of the Invincibles and former Brazil teammate, leading the football operations at Arsenal, the club is experiencing a resurgence reminiscent of its glory days. The combination of Edu’s leadership and Mikel Arteta’s brilliance on the touchline has reignited hopes of competing for top honours in football.

In an interview with ShotsTV, Gilberto Silva expressed his desire to return to Arsenal if given the opportunity. “Well, it would be great! It depends. I think at the moment Arsenal have a very good team working with Edu. Maybe if that is something I can help, I would be more than happy to be back at the club,” Silva stated.

While Silva acknowledges the proficient team already in place at Arsenal, he remains open to the prospect of contributing to the club’s success in any capacity. He relishes his ongoing support for Arsenal as an ambassador and expresses his fondness for the club.

Silva’s sentiments reflect a broader trend among former players, indicating Arsenal’s enduring appeal and the strong emotional ties they maintain with the club. 

While the specifics of Silva’s potential role remain uncertain, his willingness to rejoin the club highlights the lasting impact the club has had on its players.
