Despite missing out on the Premier league title, ex-Tottenham player Jamie Redknapp still thinks Arsenal have had an outstanding season and expects the Gunners to push on even further in 2023/24.

Mikel Arteta’s side have lead the way at the top of the table for over 250+ days this season, in contrast Manchester City have only been top for just over two weeks. However Arsenal have stumbled in recent weeks, winning only two of their last seven games which has all but handed Pep Guardiola’s side the Premier League title this season.

Despite coming up short, Mikel Arteta has praised his players for the progress they’ve made this season. The Arsenal boss also emphasised the fact the Gunners have had a successful season by qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in seven years, ahead of the match on Saturday against Nottingham Forest.

Mikel Arteta on people calling Arsenal’s season a failure: “The same people that thought we were going to finish 6th or 7th, are the same people saying that finishing 2nd is a failure.”

Jamie Redknapp has agreed with Mikel Arteta, as he also thinks Arsenal have had an amazing season, despite missing out on the Premier League title right at the end.

“No matter what happens, it’s been an incredible season for Arsenal. The progression they’ve made has been astonishing.”

“The way they finished last season, I wasn’t sure what was going to happen – even if they were going to get into the top six. To push Man City the way they have has been an amazing season for them.”

“Next year, if they can acquire three or four more players, there’s no reason why they can’t push them even further.”

“This Man City is the best team the Premier League has ever seen. They’ve been pushed and I feel Arsenal have got the best out of them as well.

“I’ve got nothing but respect for what Arsenal have done this season but the squad depth just hasn’t been quite been there.”
