Sky Sports pundits and most noticeably ex-Tottenham star Jamie Redknapp has recently admitted that Arsenal captain, Martin Odegaard is the midfielder in the Premier League on current form.

The Norwegian has scored 10 goals & picked up 7 assists in 27 Premier League appearances so far this season and is a big reason why the Gunners currently find themselves top of the table.

Generally, if people were asked who’s the best midfielder in the league they shout Kevin De Bruyne in an instant. Still, recently the ‘best midfielder in the world’ hasn’t been at his very best and the performances of Odegaard are starting to outshine the Belgian.

Kevin De Bruyne has 4 goals and 13 assists in 25 Premier League game this season.

The two players both share the same amount of goal contributions and are neck-and-neck on most stats across the board this season too.

“Most players, especially midfield players, because we’re not used to getting in those scoring] situations, the calmness he possesses. He’s scored four goals or five goals like he did against Fulham. with that left foot.

He’s the captain, he’s the leader. He’s leading that team. When he hasn’t got the ball he hoes and presses it and it caches.”

The Sky Sports pundit isn’t wrong when he speaks about Martin Odegaard and off the ball work-rate. The Norwegian presses from the front and the rest of his teammates follow his lead, backed up by the stat below.

Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Haselbaink also had a say on the Arsenal captain stating:

“He’s a different player to De Bruyne but he’s always got a solution. When he comes into a tight space, he finds the right solution very calmly. He doesn’t have as many assists as De Bruyne because he’s not that kind of player. But other things he does, he’s doing them so elegantly and so well. It’s a pleasure to watch him.”

The Norweigan recently got voted the best player at the London Football Awards showing what people think of him when he’s on the pitch. Martin Odegaard is a huge part of the success of the current Arsenal team and he continues to deliver captain-like performances week in, week out.

If Arsenal’s captain can carry on his good form until the end of the season then there’s no doubt the Gunners will have a great chance of lifting their first Premier League trophy in 19 years…
