Emile Smith Rowe hasn’t featured for Arsenal since the 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford on the 4th September, almost four months ago now. The 22-year-old underwent groin surgery at the beginning of October and has been working hard ever since to get back on the pitch as soon as possible.

He’s been back in training at London Colony for the past week and took part again today ahead of the game against Newcastle tomorrow.

Could Emile Smith Rowe make the bench tomorrow? It remains to be seen but he’s definitely in contention.

Mikel Arteta speaking on Emile Smith Rowe’s fitness last week: “He has made some big steps in the last week or so, took part in a few training sessions lately and is looking good.”

If the game against Newcastle tomorrow is too early for Emile Smith Rowe, then what a better opportunity to make a return than Oxford United in the FA Cup the following Monday.

Emile Smith Rowe scored ten goals & got two assists in the Premier League for Mikel Arteta’s side last season and although Arsenal haven’t felt the impact of their number 10’s absence, with The Gunners sitting top of the league, he will feel like a new signing for Mikel Arteta with the games coming thick & fast at the start of the new year.
