Arsenal are set for a transformative summer as manager Mikel Arteta focuses on strengthening the squad for another shot at the title. However, the club’s sporting director, Edu Gaspar, faces the daunting task of trimming the squad before significant reinforcements can be made.

Despite concerns about squad depth, Arsenal are in a position where up to eleven senior players could potentially be offloaded to make room for incoming talent. The club’s early exits from multiple cup competitions reveals the need for players who can provide depth and competition for established starters.

However, the challenge lies in how players depart. At the end of the 2023 summer window, Arsenal encountered difficulties in finding suitable exits for some players, with some resorting to loan moves. Players like Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga may have boosted their prospects with impressive loan spells, but others, like Portuguese full-back Tavares, face uncertain futures.

Kieran Tierney’s loan spell at Real Sociedad could see Arsenal secure a good fee for the Scottish international, although a return to the squad seems unlikely given the competition at left-back.

Among the current squad, Hale End graduates Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson are expected to depart after failing to secure regular playing time despite signing new contracts. Emile Smith Rowe’s future divides opinions among supporters, with injuries and positional ambiguity prompting speculation about his potential sale.

Surprisingly, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, former Manchester City teammates, are also rumoured to be on the departure list. Their underwhelming performances have led to speculation about their futures at the club.

Thomas Partey’s contract situation and injury woes have fueled rumours of a potential exit, with a move to Saudi Arabia touted as a possible option. Similarly, Fabio Vieira’s inability to break into the first team due to competition and injury raises the likelihood of a summer departure.

Finally, Aaron Ramsdale’s limited playing time due to the loan signing of David Raya could prompt him to seek opportunities elsewhere, with Raya expected to join permanently in the summer.
