Reiss Nelson is a product from Arsenal’s academy along with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah who are also in the first-team picture under Mikel Arteta. The player was desperate to stay at his boyhood club beyond this season and he’s now got his wish after signing a 4+1 years contract with the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta was also determined to keep Reiss Nelson with many Premier League and European clubs interested in signing the 23-year-old as a free agent this summer. AC Milan, Brighton and Fulham were a few of many clubs looking at the Hale End product ahead of the summer.

Reiss Nelson only made a few sub appearances for Arsenal in the Premier League this season, but he has managed to score three goals and make two assists in his limited game time, most notably scoring a last winner minute against Bournemouth.

According to Santi Auona, Nelson’s new Arsenal contract, which is expected to be signed soon, will run until 2027, with an option for another year. He will earn £100k-a-week, with a £5million signing bonus. Arsenal expect Nelson to sign the contract when he returns from vacation.

Reiss Nelson joined Arsenal’s academy at just nine years old and made his first-team debut in September 2017 at just 17 years old. Since then, he has made over 50 appearances for the club and has been described as one of their most promising young talents.

With Arsenal back in the Champions League next season, Reiss Nelson is seen as a vital squad player who will get more minutes next season which is why Mikel Arteta was so desperate to keep him at the club. His impressive performances this season have shown that he has what it takes to succeed at the highest level and fans will be hoping that he can continue to develop and become a key player for the club in the years to come.
