Arsenal’s club-record signing, Declan Rice, has revealed his personal goal target for this season, and the midfielder already looks well on his way to achieving it.

Speaking after Arsenal’s penalty shootout win against Porto in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) round of 16 last week, Rice told Gunners legend Thierry Henry: “I’m aiming for ten (goals this season), I want ten.”

The 25-year-old has already netted six goals so far, with all of them coming in the Premier League, meaning that he needs just four goals in Arsenal’s remaining games to achieve his aim, which seems a very reasonable target.

His chances of achieving this goal would be further increased if Arsenal beat Bayern Munich in the UCL quarter-finals, as it would see them play at least two extra games, giving the Englishman more chances to find the back of the net.

Since arriving last summer in an eye-watering £105m deal, Rice has become an immediate fan-favourite at Arsenal, aided largely by his sublime performances which have seen him become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

As well as offering the Gunners much-needed defensive solidity, Rice has shown an admirable ability to be an integral part of attacks, which has seen him amass 13 goal involvements already this season.

Goals from midfield are something that Arsenal have somewhat lacked in recent years, especially after the departures of stars like Mesut Özil and Aaron Ramsey among others, but Rice looks to be well on the way to filling this void.

As well as bearing fruits on the pitch, the goal target set by Rice also shows his excellent mentality, which Arsenal fans will hope can carry them to numerous trophies in years to come.
