Arsenal narrowly missed out on the Premier League title last season, but they are now mounting another challenge and aiming to clinch the championship this time around.

The Gunners have significantly strengthened compared to this time last year, with the addition of Declan Rice in the summer proving particularly beneficial.

Despite a slight downturn in form in December, Mikel Arteta’s side has been in fine form in 2024, boasting the best defense and goal difference in the league.

While Arsenal led the league for much of last season before faltering in the final two months, they are currently in pursuit of Liverpool and Manchester City, with just two points separating the top three teams.

Rice has asserted that Arsenal have learned from the mistakes of last season and are better positioned to challenge for their first Premier League title since 2004.

Speaking to The Mirror at the London Football Awards, Rice explained why he believes Arsenal have elevated their game since their title disappointment last season.

“I think Arsenal were the best team in the league last year. They stumbled at the end, and City always finish strongly. They can’t believe they lost the league, being eight points ahead,” he stated.

“This year, I feel everyone, including the manager and the staff, has learned from their mistakes. Everyone is stronger, with more belief. Even if we go a goal down, there is still confidence and mental strength that we can push on and win games.

“Like I said, the league is so competitive this year, and anything can happen with 12 games to go. The crucial thing is that we’re right in the mix. We had a little dip at Christmas, losing two games in a row, which wasn’t ideal.”

Rice’s presence has added a new dimension to Arsenal’s play, contributing significantly to their improved defensive solidity and overall performance. With just one loss after taking the lead this season, Arsenal boasts the best record in the league in this regard.

Should Arsenal go one step further than last season and secure the title, Rice’s influence, both on and off the pitch, will undoubtedly have played a key role in their success.
