After the Gunners defeated Manchester United 0-1 at Old Trafford on Sunday, Cesc Fabregas stated that Arsenal have a £23 million player who has significantly improved on the ball.

Gabriel Magalhaes has received praise from former Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas for his notable improvement, particularly in his ball-playing abilities.

Fabregas commended Gabriel’s performance in the win at Old Trafford and hailed his significant role in Arsenal’s defensive success this season.

Fabregas highlighted Gabriel’s remarkable progress throughout the campaign, noting that the Brazilian defender has become increasingly proficient on the ball.

In an interview with Planet Premier League, Fabregas listed the advantages of having a left-footed defender like Gabriel on the left side of the backline, citing the versatility and strategic options it provides in build-up play.

He praised Gabriel’s improved ability to switch play, play interior balls, and distribute effectively to full-backs, enhancing Arsenal’s attacking options and overall gameplay.

Cesc Fabregas said, “There is a difference playing left centre-back or not because nowadays everyone studies you very well, and when you play as a right centre-back, unless he is really good and can get out of situations when he’s pressed, because what happens when you’re a centre-back and you are left in this case, you can make switches onto the other side, you can play interior balls, you can play into your full-back, you have a lot of situations. It opens up the game so much more for you.

“Instead, if you play with a right centre-back, potentially they could study you, they could press you in a certain way, they are taking you outside, you could feel under pressure so much easier, so in this case, I agree with Nedum [Onuoha] totally, playing a left centre-back instead of Gabriel, who’s improved with the ball a lot; physically we knew that he was a good defender, very solid, but with the ball he’s improved a lot and it helps a lot in the build-up for Arsenal.”

Despite arriving for just over £23 million from Lille, Gabriel has quickly established himself as a key player in the Arsenal defense, forming strong partnerships with fellow defenders Ben White and William Saliba.

With further room for improvement and the potential for his partnership with Saliba to strengthen, Gabriel’s continued growth represents a promising prospect for Arsenal’s defensive stability and long-term success in the coming seasons.
