Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer has withdrawn from the Germany international squad due to a left adductor injury sustained during training. The 37-year-old goalkeeper’s absence will be keenly felt as Germany prepares to face France on March 23 and the Netherlands on March 26.

Neuer’s injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for Bayern Munich, with crucial fixtures looming on the horizon. Their upcoming Champions League quarter-final clash against Arsenal on April 9 now poses a significant challenge without their seasoned goalkeeper.

Prior to that, Bayern face domestic challenges against Borussia Dortmund and Heidenheim in their pursuit to close the gap on Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

The injury setback leaves Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann with limited goalkeeping options for the impending matches. Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Fulham’s Bernd Leno, and Hoffenheim’s Oliver Baumann are now tasked with filling the void left by Neuer’s absence.

Bayern Munich issued a statement confirming Neuer’s injury, stating, “Manuel Neuer tore a muscle fibre in his left adductor during training for the German national team. This was the result of an investigation by the DFB medical department. The FC Bayern captain is out of the upcoming international matches against France and the Netherlands and will return to Munich.”

In a parallel development, England captain Harry Kane also suffered an injury setback while playing against Darmstadt in the Bundesliga. This further complicates matters for Bayern Munich ahead of crucial fixtures.

With just weeks remaining before the highly anticipated Champions League clash against Arsenal, Kane’s injury is a big blow for Bayern Munich. The former Tottenham forward has a great record against Arsenal with 14 goals in 19 games during his time in England, and might miss Bayern Munich’s clash against Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker on March 30 if his injury proves more serious.

German reporter Patrick Strasser disclosed Bayern director Christoph Freund’s remarks regarding Kane’s injury, hinting at potential concerns for the English striker’s availability in upcoming fixtures. Freund stated, “We hope it’s not that bad. It was a precautionary measure that he went out. Harry twisted his ankle, and the area had to be cooled down. He won’t take any risks with the national team.”
