Florian Balogun has had quite an astonishing season to say the least while on loan away from the Gunners…
The young striker has gone from breaking records to competing amongst the likes of Kylian Mbappe. As the season progresses towards the end, Mikel Arteta faces a huge decision on whether the player is to fight for a place at Arsenal or potentially be sold in the upcoming summer window.
17 goals in 27 appearances for Reims in the top flight in France is something special from Folarin Balogun so far this season. The Hale end graduate has seen his blistering form put his name on the map as he continues to outscore Lionel Messi and Neymar in the league.

The 21 year old star has became the youngest player to hit 17 goals in their debut season in France’s top flight since 1956. From scoring in the dying embers against PSG to claim a point to netting a dazzling hat trick versus Lorient, it’s fair to say the stint at Middlesbrough last campaign along with the vast experience gained in the youth set-up has set Balogun up in good stead.
Although the New York born striker may be the poster boy for Reims, if he were to come back to the Emirates next season there would be a whole heap of competition for the limited positions available with the likes of Jesus, Nketiah, Trossard and Martinelli all enhancing capabilities to play as a striker.
As Arsenal are also set to compete in the Champions League next season the game time which may have occurred in the Europe League has now been canceled. There could however now be a hefty price tag attached to the player as his valuation most definitely has sky rocketed. One which could potentially help Arsenal bolster their squad elsewhere in various positions whilst the move would also allow Balogun to receive subsequent amount of game time which would inevitably help him climb to the top.
Mikel Arteta has however presented himself as a Balogun fan and appreciates his growth which has seen the star rise.
The boss on Folarin Balogun…
“I’m so happy for him. He’s a boy that has a really clear idea of what he wants to do with his career. He’s really ambitious, really committed and really brave. What Balogun is doing is incredible”
Folrian Balogun has also had his say on the situation and loan spell…
“There’s talks that need to take place and it’s not a decision that will only be with me. The club will let me know their point of view and I’m sure we’ll come to an agreement. It’s nice that Arteta is watching what’s going on.”
Regardless of what awaits next season in the next chapter of this phenomenal footballer it is crucial the progress and his sublime performances are appreciated. A player who’s without much first-team experience, prior to this loan spell, has come and taken over France – that can’t be underestimated.
