Is social media the new way for players to hand in transfer requests? It could be.
Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun has caused a bit of a stir this morning by simply tweeting ‘It is time!’ with an image of an hour glass.
Balogun has been the subject of a lot of speculation after a breakthrough season in France with Reims. The USA striker scored 21 goals despite his team underperforming in Ligue 1 and this has led to a bunch of speculation as to where his next move could be.
Thanks to his efforts last season, a number of clubs from across Europe have been linked with the striker, with reports that Arsenal are willing to listen to offers for the player. And it seems that Balogun isn’t looking to wait around.
At his age and after such a strong performance, it’s highly unlikely that another loan move would be what Balogun is looking for. The striker, who is now a full international for the United States, will either want assurances that he’s considered a first team player for The Gunners or will look for a permanent move elsewhere.
His tweet seems to suggest that he’s ready to make a move. How that plays out, nobody knows for sure. But it seems that Balogun has made his feelings clear that the time is now – for whatever he intends to do next.
