Arsenal remain optimistic about securing the future of Amario Cozier-Duberry with a new contract in the midst of fervent interest from several top clubs including Newcastle United.

The 18-year-old winger, drawing comparisons to Bukayo Saka from former Gunners midfielder turned academy coach Jack Wilshere, finds himself at the centre of attention as his current deal approaches its expiry at the end of June.

Premier League giants Newcastle and Wolves have joined the ranks of clubs closely monitoring Cozier-Duberry’s situation, with potential moves abroad also on the horizon.

However, Arsenal are steadfast in their desire to retain the young talent, believing he’s on the cusp of breaking into the first team. Talks have commenced, but a decision remains pending from the player and his representatives.

Cozier-Duberry’s recent performances have only heightened the clamour surrounding his future. Nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for April, he boasts an impressive record of nine goals and five assists in the competition. Additionally, his prowess was evident in the UEFA Youth League, where he notched two goals in four appearances.

Dubbed the “jewel of the club’s academy,” Cozier-Duberry has been a regular participant in first-team training sessions under Mikel Arteta’s tutelage this season, even earning a place as an unused substitute.

Arsenal, though finishing fifth in the Premier League 2 table, witnessed Cozier-Duberry’s brilliance firsthand as he scored twice in a resounding 6-2 victory over Manchester United in the play-offs’ first round.

As Arsenal braces for a crucial clash against Chelsea at Meadow Park, the spotlight remains fixed on Cozier-Duberry. Despite the weight of comparisons to Saka, the young winger, standing at 5ft 7 and 9.5 stone, has been hailed as “unplayable” by Under-18 head coach Wilshere.

“Amario is very exciting and Mikel [Arteta] likes him,” Wilshere stated to The Athletic. “He reminds me of Bukayo Saka, plays in the same position as him, needs to get better with his decision-making like Bukayo did, but he’s definitely exciting.

“In some moments he’s unplayable. You give him the ball and he can make things happen. You can set up a team and have a game plan, but when you’ve got individuals like that you’ve got a chance.”
