As the international break comes to an end, all the focus turns back to club football with Arsenal back in Premier League action this weekend against Brentford. The Gunners have been handed a boost ahead of the match with Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Jesus both back fully fit for the game on Saturday.

However it’s not all good news. Ben White is still struggling with a muscle injury that has prevented him from training over the break and also Emile Smith Rowe is not expected to be back in action until next month.

Smith Rowe started his first Premier League game in over a year last month when Arsenal took on Sheffield United at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners won the game 5-0 but unfortunately Arsenal’s number ten had to come off due to a knock to his knee.

The 23-year-old is still recovering from the same knee issue, which is expected to keep him on the sidelines until December at the earliest. He has so far missed out on games against West Ham, Newcastle, Sevilla and Burnley.

However the good news is Emile Smith Rowe’s injury wasn’t as bad as first feared with the midfielder expected to return to training sometime over the next two weeks.

Mikel Arteta spoke on Smith Rowe ahead of the Newcastle match before the break: “It’s a big blow because he was getting some momentum and some minutes. And we’d started to get the Emile that we needed, but unfortunately he’s going to be out again.”

It’s a shame to see the Hale End graduate having to come back from another injury. It has been an incredibly frustrating year for the 23-year-old, who has gone from being one of the club’s most important players to potentially fearing for his Gunners future.

Emile Smith Rowe isn’t short of admirers with the likes of Newcastle, Chelsea and Aston Villa also enquiring about the players’ availability over recent transfer windows.

As we head into the January transfer window, Emile Smith Rowe remains determined to fight for his place at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta and does not want to leave the club in two months time when the window opens.
