Arsenal will return to Premier League action this weekend following the two-week winter break. The team, currently in Dubai for warm weather training to recharge their batteries after a challenging few weeks, are set to face Crystal Palace on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium and Mikel Arteta will be hoping to have some players back from injury.

Arsenal have struggled with injuries this season with Jurrien Timber, Thomas Partey, Emile Smith Rowe, Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Fabio Vieira, all missing matches this season.

Partey is not expected back until the end of this month, while Timber has stepped up his recovery from the anterior cruciate ligament injury and is expected to be back before the end of the season. One player who has traveled with the team to Dubai but is not expected to return to the field just yet is Fabio Vieira.

The Portuguese international was injured and underwent surgery in November. The 23-year-old has started just three games across all competitions this season.

According to Evening Standard’s Simon Collings, Fabio Vieira is still expected to be out for a “few more weeks”.

Having missed the last ten games across all competitions, Mikel Arteta expressed optimism earlier this month that he hopes the midfielder will be available for selection by the end of the month.

Arteta provided an update on Vieira’s progress, saying, “He’s doing well again, but it was a surgery that required two different things to get results. The first signs are good, obviously he is still a bit far from where we want him, but he needs to keep working, and hopefully in the next few weeks, we can have him [available].”
