Arsenal have expressed profound shock and sadness at the tragic death of Daniel Anjorin, a 14-year-old Arsenal fan who lost his life in a devastating sword attack in London.

The club is set to pay tribute to the young supporter ahead of their upcoming match against AFC Bournemouth.

Anjorin was one of five individuals fatally wounded in a horrific incident in Hainault on Tuesday, where a man crashed his van before launching a vicious stabbing spree.

The teenager’s school, Bancroft’s, described him as a “true scholar” with a “positive nature and gentle character,” further highlighting the profound loss suffered by his community.

In response to this tragedy, Arsenal has announced plans for a special tribute during their next fixture, a Premier League clash against AFC Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

In a statement, the club expressed solidarity with Anjorin’s family and revealed their intention to honour his memory shortly before kickoff.

“We share in the shock and sadness of Daniel Anjorin’s death earlier this week,” Arsenal stated. “With his family’s blessing, we will make a tribute to Daniel shortly ahead of kick off tomorrow. We ask all supporters to pay their respects to Daniel with us in this moment.”

Furthermore, Arsenal has been in close communication with the police family liaison officer handling the case, offering support to Anjorin’s grieving family during this difficult time.

The football community, both Arsenal and Bournemouth fans alike, has rallied together on social media to express condolences and solidarity. Plans have been made for a minute’s applause in the 14th minute of the game as a mark of respect for Anjorin’s memory.

“Of course, we will join in,” remarked one Bournemouth supporter on social media. “What is this country coming to. It’s unbelievable what’s happening on our streets.”

Arsenal supporters echoed similar sentiments, with one fan stating, “RIP Daniel. [The] Arsenal family will always remember you, little Gunner.”

Anjorin’s tragic death has sent shockwaves through Bancroft’s, the independent school where he was a pupil. The school released a statement expressing devastation and sorrow over the loss of Anjorin, who attended the same institution as Grace O’Malley-Kumar, a medical student who was tragically murdered in a knife attack in Nottingham last summer.

“We are devastated by the heartbreaking news of the death of Daniel Anjorin, who attended our school. This has left us in profound shock and sorrow,” Bancroft’s stated on its website.
