In a significant development for Arsenal, reports indicate that the club is on the verge of receiving a crucial injury boost with the imminent return of Jurrien Timber to first-team action after the international break.

As club football takes a brief hiatus for the next week, it has afforded clubs like Arsenal to take their time in bringing some players back to full fitness after long absences

According to football.london, Timber is expected to be in contention to make his long-awaited comeback for the Gunners. However, it is unlikely that Mikel Arteta will rush Timber into action immediately for Arsenal’s upcoming fixture against Manchester City.

The news of Timber’s impending return comes as a welcome relief for Arsenal, who have been without the versatile defender since the opening Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest, where he sustained a dreaded ACL injury.

Timber showcased immense potential during the preseason for Arteta’s squad, and fans eagerly anticipate his return, particularly with the business end of the 2023/24 campaign fast approaching.

The timing of Timber’s comeback couldn’t be more opportune for Arsenal. Reflecting on last season’s challenges, the Gunners faltered in the final stages, relinquishing a substantial lead in the Premier League title race and ultimately conceding to Manchester City, who secured the treble.

Had Arsenal possessed the services of William Saliba during that critical period, the outcome might have been different. Thus, Timber’s potential return in April and May could significantly bolster Arsenal’s depth, potentially altering the dynamics of both the title race and the latter stages of the Champions League.

The 22-year-old offers versatility across the defensive line, capable of slotting in at centre-back, right-back, and left-back. This versatility could afford key players such as Saliba, Ben White, and Oleksandr Zinchenko valuable opportunities to rest and mitigate the risk of burnout during the business end of the season.
