Arsenal fans are putting out a collective sigh of relief with the news that Arsenal youth team star Ethan Nwaneri is set to commit his future to the club.

The Athletic report that Nwaneri has agreed to a professional deal for when he turns 17 in March 2024. His schoolboy registration was due to expire on June 30 and it was heavily mooted that English Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester City were trying to sign the player to their own clubs.

At just 15 Nwaneri became the youngest player in Premier League history when he came on as a substitute against Brentford in September 2022. He has been an Arsenal supporter since he was a boy having grown up in Islington, just a short distance away from the Emirates Stadium.

The news will come as a huge boost to the club s fans who were loath to see a youngster of Nwaneri’s talent leave the club. Arsenal had already lost another bright prospect in the shape of Omar Hutchinson to Chelsea and didn’t want to see another one of their players take the same route out of the club. This news was come as a relief and with Mikel Arteta’s focus on youth, it should provide Nwaneri a platform to further develop his career at a club where he will be valued and will be given an opportunity to succeed.
