Arsenal beat Brentford on Saturday to go top of the Premier League table for the first time this season. Next up for Mikel Arteta’s side is a Champions League clash against RC Lens on Wednesday night before hosting Wolves at the Emirates on Saturday.

Wolves fell to defeat at Craven Cottage tonight as they lost to Fulham by three to two. However that wasn’t the only bad news for Wolves manager, Gary O’Neil.

Midfielders Joao Gomes and Mario Lemina both picked up their fifth yellow cards of the season against Fulham which means both players will be suspended for the game at the Emirates up next.

It gets worse for Wolves as first choice left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri had to be substituted before the 20th minute mark tonight with an injury. He’s now also expected to miss the game against Arsenal this weekend, with his replacement Matt Doherty likely to start instead.

There’s no doubt Mikel Arteta’s side would have been favourites heading into the match, regardless of Wolves situation. However considering the triple boost Arsenal have received tonight, they should win, and win well at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

The Gunners have been criticised so far this season for not showing the same free-flowing attacking football we saw during the 2022/23 campaign. However Saturday represents a chance to change that as Mikel Arteta’s side are set to now face a weaken Wolves team.

Arsenal also have a couple of boosts of their own as David Raya and Fabio Vieira both return after missing the game against Brentford last time out. Raya was ineligible to play against his parent club while Vieira was suspended for the game on Saturday after picking up a red card before the break.
