Arsenal fans have expressed their frustration towards Son Heung-min, criticising the Tottenham Hotspur captain for a missed chance during their match against Manchester City on Tuesday night, which ended in a 2-0 defeat for Spurs.

With Arsenal hoping for a favour from their north London rivals to derail Manchester City’s title hopes, Son’s missed opportunity to equalise before Erling Haaland’s second goal has left Gunners supporters feeling aggrieved.

In the 86th minute of the game, with Manchester City holding a narrow lead, Son found himself in a prime position to score after being played through on goal. Positioned just right of centre, he aimed for the far corner, only to be thwarted by an outstanding save from City’s goalkeeper, Stefan Ortega.

Reacting to Son’s missed chance, Arsenal fans took to social media platforms to express their discontent. One user on X tweeted, “Nah Son has blood on his hands after that,” while another user remarked, “Son will be the most hated player of all time for me.” Another user said: “Son knows what he’s doing,” while another posted. “Investigate him.”

Observing Son’s attempt, Daniel Sturridge, a pundit for Sky Sports, pointed out Son’s body language and the goalkeeper’s positioning, indicating the difficulty of the situation. “Look at his body shape. There’s only one place he’s going to put it. Look at the goalkeeper, how low he is, he doesn’t move and he is patient. He is waiting. It’s very difficult for Son to go for the near post.”

Jamie Carragher, on commentary duties, emphasised the frustration of Arsenal fans worldwide, humorously remarking, “Arsenal fans all over the world are two-footing the television!”

While Manchester City’s victory has put them in a commanding position to clinch the Premier League title, Arsenal fans remain disappointed with Son’s missed opportunity, as they cling to hopes of a last-minute twist in the title race on the final day of the season.
