Arsenal fans took to mocking Chelsea’s social media account after it failed to acknowledge Kai Havertz’s goals in Tuesday night’s resounding 5-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium.

In a dominant display, the Gunners extended their lead at the top of the table with Havertz notably scoring twice against his former club, who had sold him in the summer transfer window. The German forward, now excelling in a false nine role for Arsenal, capitalised on his opportunity to shine against his former employers, netting twice within eight second-half minutes.

While Chelsea’s Twitter account diligently updated the match progress, it notably omitted Havertz’s name from the list of goal scorers, sparking amusement among Arsenal fans. The oversight was not lost on them, as they took to social media to jest at Chelsea’s expense.

Havertz’s journey at Chelsea had been fraught with challenges, despite scoring the crucial goal that secured the club’s Champions League triumph in his debut season. However, his form has since flourished at Arsenal, drawing praise from teammates like Ben White, who hailed his outstanding performances.

With the victory, Arsenal applied pressure on title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City, who were scheduled to play in the following days. Although the title race remains tight, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, emphasising the importance of consistency and improvement as they pursue their championship aspirations.

“Very happy with the win, with the amount of chances and goals we scored,” Arteta remarked. “And with the clean sheet as well it shows the consistency. We weren’t disciplined enough with some stuff we did in the first half and we needed to be more disciplined and we did that in the second half.”
