With just two matches remaining before the end of the Premier League season, the chances of Arsenal winning the title have received a slight boost despite Manchester City having a game in hand.

As another weekend of Premier League football unfolds, both title contenders maintain their pressure to remain in contention for the coveted trophy.

Arsenal asserted their dominance by clinching a resounding 3-0 victory over Bournemouth in Saturday’s early kick-off, securing their position at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Manchester City showcased their unwavering resolve, beating Wolves 5-1.

Despite Arsenal leading the pack, with Manchester City trailing closely, the title race remains unpredictable. Pep Guardiola’s side holds the advantage as they head into the final stretch of the campaign. However, the Premier League is notorious for delivering surprises when least expected, leaving room for unforeseen twists and turns before the season’s culmination.

In light of the ongoing battle for supremacy, statisticians at Opta analyse the state of play and forecast the potential outcomes as the race intensifies.

According to Opta’s predictions, Arsenal’s chances of clinching the title have experienced a marginal increase following their recent triumph. After their victory over Bournemouth, their probability of finishing atop the table stands at 34.1%, up from 32.5% after Gameweek 34. Conversely, Manchester City’s likelihood of securing a fourth consecutive league title has slightly decreased but remains formidable at 65.9%.

As the season reaches its climax, Arsenal face a crucial test in maintaining their lead. While they continue to secure victories, they rely on Manchester City to falter. However, the upcoming weekend presents City with an opportunity to exert pressure, facing Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday. Arsenal, on the other hand, confront Manchester United on Sunday, hoping to capitalise on their recent struggles.

With City’s impending game in hand against Tottenham, Arsenal anxiously awaits the outcome, hoping for a favourable result to bolster their title aspirations.
