Arsenal have become only the second club in the world to achieve a squad value of over €1billion, according to TransferMarkt.
Mikel Arteta has transformed Arsenal Football Club since his arrival in December 2019. The club have been on an upward trajectory ever since the Spaniard started getting a grip on the squad at his disposal. It took some time but after Arteta started getting the players through the door that he wanted, the club haven’t looked back.
According to TransferMarkt, Arsenal are only the second club in word football to have a squad value of over €1billion, as well as Manchester City.
What is even more impressive is how quickly Arsenal have seen their squad value rise over the past three years. From having an over-aged squad on extremely high salaries with no European football, to having one of the youngest squads in the league mixed with one of the most exciting projects in world football right now. There’s no doubt Arsenal are on their way back to the top.

From Sokratis, Mustafi, Aubameyang, Ozil and Mkhitaryan and more players who were coming to the end of their careers while still on extremely high wages, Arsenal were a club in disarray. The club didn’t have any European football to help and were in a very difficult position both on the pitch, and off it.
Then Mikel Arteta arrives with a five-year plan to get Arsenal back to the top. The club are currently in phase four and it’s clear to see the Arsenal boss knows exactly what he is doing. From tying down their best young talents to new contracts, to signing some of the most promising players in world football, Arsenal are now expected to be the team closest to challenging Manchester City to the Premier League title next season.
Aaron Ramsdale is valued as the most expensive goalkeeper in the world right now, as well as Bukayo Saka who is valued at £120million which puts him as the most expensive right winger in the world.
Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Jesus and more are all players who are valued at more than Arsenal brought them for, contributing to the rise of the club over the last three years. The club has young players on long-term contracts which helps protect their values – clearly the Gunners are learning from past mistakes.
