Exciting young winger Marcelo Flores has triggered his two-year contract extension with Arsenal, keeping him at the club until June 2025. Journalist Fernando Cervallos broke the news earlier this week, after speculation the talented Mexican international would look to extend his tenure in North London after his loan spell for Real Oviedo.
The talented 19-year-old has struggled for game time since the turn of the year, but his quality remains, and has been rewarded by Arteta and the club, for the promising start he made to this season.Â
Arsenal are busy negotiating several key, long-term contracts for their young players – Saliba and Saka are the obvious names – but it is easy to forget Arsenal have a wide spread net, and lots of exciting talent is maturing outside of England.Â
The Hale End academy spotted a potential gem back in 2019, and have been incrementally progressing the player through the ranks ever since.
Whilst a move back to England seems unlikely at this stage, expect Flores to be a name on several European clubs wish list this summer. The tricky, multi-faceted winger will look to secure more regular game time and experience playing football at as high a level as possible.Â
