Arsenal are looking to make it six wins in a row in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium when they take on Newcastle United tonight. The Gunners are also looking to bounce back from their mid-week Champions League defeat to FC Porto.

Mikel Arteta’s side lost the reverse fixture at St James’ Park by one goal earlier this season which was a game filled with controversy. The goal arguably shouldn’t have stood following a foul in the build-up by Joelinton on Gabriel. However Mikel Arteta was more infuriated with how Bruno Guimarães managed to escape a red card with an elbow to Jorginho’s head.

Arsenal will want revenge in North London tonight and there’s no doubt the Emirates will be bouncing ahead of the 8pm kick-off.

Mikel Arteta will know his team will need to be at their best to get all three points, with a few Arsenal players facing late fitness tests ahead of the game tonight.

The good news for Arsenal is Thomas Partey has returned to full first-team training this week and is expected to make the squad for the first time since October. The Ghanian midfielder is likely to start the match on the bench, which is a huge boost for the Gunners.

Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko are also close to a return for Mikel Arteta’s side with both players having been unavailable since the victory over Nottingham Forest. The striker and full-back are both expected to face late fitness tests to determine if they can play a part in tonight’s game.

In other news, Fabio Vieira returned to the squad on Wednesday night in the Champions League and is available again for the game back in the Premier League this evening. The Portuguese international hasn’t featured for Arsenal since picking up a red card against Burnley in November.

Takehiro Tomiyasu is still a week or two away from being available for Mikel Arteta. While Jurrien Timber is set to begin light training next week. The defender could return next month which will be a huge boost for Arsenal ahead of the title run-in, as well as the Champions League knockout stages.
