The Arsenal player ratings after the Gunners crash out of the Europa League at the round-of-16 stage following a penalty shoot-out at the Emirates Stadium this evening…

Aaron Ramsdale – 6.5

Made a HUGE save in the second-half to keep the game level & couldn’t really do much for Sporting’s wonder goal tonight. However he probably should have saved a couple of the penalties.

Takehiro Tomiyasu – 6.0

Tomiyasu was subbed off inside 10 minutes tonight after stretching awkwardly so can’t get a rating any higher than a 6.

William Saliba – 6.0

Likewise with Tomiyasu, Saliba was substituted after 21 minutes following some discomfort in his lower back. Hopefully it’s not a serious one!

Gabriel – 7

Gabriel made some vital blocks at the back when needed, but Arsenal’s defence was very shaky at times & passing was a bit off so can’t get any higher than a 7.

Oleksandr Zinchenko – 6.5

Like most of the Arsenal team, nothing special from Zinchenko today.

Jorginho – 7.5

Outstanding pass to make the opening goal & probably Arsenal’s best player tonight, although no player really stood out. Some of the Italian’s passing is top quality.

Granit Xhaka – 7.0

Xhaka’s first goal since October and it was a really good finish once the ball came back to him. Other than the goal, it wasn’t his best performance with Sporting finding it easy to pass through the Arenal midfield.

Fabio Vieira – 6.0

Nothing special from Fabio Vieira tonight, needed more from him.

Reiss Nelson – 6.5

Reiss had some good moments and tried to make things happen but like most of the Arsenal team, it just didn’t really happen for him tonight.

Gabriel Jesus – 7.5

One of Arsenal’s best players in the first-half before he was substituted. Always trying to make things happen and beats players with ease. Good to have him back.

Gabriel Martinelli – 7.0

Like Reiss, Martinelli struggled to make a difference today. He had some good moments, made some good runs which made the first goal but it wasn’t the best performance, like most of the Arsenal team today. He also missed the deciding penalty.

Substitutes:

Ben White – 6.5

Rob Holding – 6.0

Leandro Trossard – 6.5

Thomas Partey – 7.5

Bukayo Saka – 6.5

Martin Odegaard – 7.0
