In preparation for Tuesday’s important UEFA Champions League clash against FC Porto, Mikel Arteta has rallied Arsenal supporters to transform the Emirates Stadium into a fortress of fervour.

Following their recent triumph over Brentford, which kept Arsenal top of the Premier League title race ahead of Liverpool on goal difference and Manchester City by a point, attention swiftly turns to the Champions League against FC Porto. The Gunners find themselves trailing 1-0 after the first leg away from home, heightening the significance of their home advantage in the second leg.

Arteta emphasised the importance of harnessing the energy of the home crowd, urging fans to infuse the stadium with unrestrained passion and noise.

“This stadium is going to have the energy that you have never seen in your life,” Arteta declared, highlighting the opportunity for fans to play an important role in helping their team to victory.

“Bring your noise, bring your energy, your passion to that stadium, and something beautiful is going to happen.”

The reference to “14 years” echoes Arsenal’s prolonged absence from advancing beyond the Champions League last-16 stage. Arteta underscored the significance of the moment, and the unique opportunity for the team to thrive in front of their own supporters.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Monday, Arteta stressed the crucial role of fan support throughout the entirety of the match.

“That’s the opportunity that we have tomorrow, in front of our people and in our stadium,” Mikel said in his pre-match press conference at Sobha Realty Training Centre on Monday. “For 96 minutes bring your energy, bring your noise and let’s do it together.

“I think the impact they [the supporters] can make tomorrow is incredible. I don’t think that they really realise so we need that noise and we need them playing every single ball with us.

“We need that emotion controlled as well to understand that the game can go through certain phases and we have to be really intelligent to push in the right moments to get what we want. It is a beautiful opportunity to live these nights – it’s been 14 years so everything that we put in is going to be worth it.”

Reflecting on the electric atmosphere generated by fervent supporters, Arteta humorously confessed to feeling the urge to join the action on the pitch. “I want to go out there and play! That’s the feeling that we have,” he exclaimed, illustrating the infectious enthusiasm pervading the club ahead of the highly anticipated fixture.
