Arsenal improved their position at the top of the Premier League table after beating Wolves 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon. Despite the narrow scoreline, Mikel Arteta’s side dominated the majority of the match and the Arsenal manager was full of praise for one man after the game.

Martin Odegaard was back to his best at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon, however it was Gabriel Martinelli who Mikel Arteta decided to single out for praise in his post-match press conference after the game.

Gabriel Martinelli didn’t manage to get on the scoresheet, although he did come close when he hit the post in the first-half, but once against the Brazilian put in a hard working performance against Wolves this afternoon.

The 22-year-old remains a key player for Mikel Arteta, despite not scoring as many goals as he would have liked this season. The Arsenal manager remains impressed with Martinelli’s performances and that’s why he continues to get picked week in, week out.

Mikel Arteta on Gabriel Martinelli against Wolves: “I think he’s been unlucky in certain moments. Today he had two big chances as well. The contribution he has in the team is immense. I’m really happy for him.”

Gabriel Martinelli had a passing accuracy of 93% against Wolves, while hitting the post as well as making one key pass during the 77′ minutes he was on the pitch. It was a another positive display from the Brazilian who will be looking to add more goals to his Premier League tally over the coming weeks.

The Arsenal winger has so far only scored one goal in the Premier League this season, however it was the winner against Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium so it was a pretty big goal to say the least.
