Arsenal have begun negotiations to sign another promising youngster from Brazil with the Gunners scouting network deep in the South American market due to Edu Gaspar’s connections. The Gunners have had great success from Brazil in the past following the signings of Marquinhos and more notably Gabriel Martinelli with the club looking to repeat that once again.

According to Brazilian outlet Globo, Arsenal have made contact with Gremio over the prospect of signing 15-year-old starlet Gabriel Mec. At such a young age, Men Gabriel is already drawing attention from many clubs around Europe with PSG also having made an enquiry about this players’ availability.

The Brazilian club, who have recognised the players’ immense potential, have put a plan in place which ensures Gabriel Men is offered a professional contract as soon as he reaches the eligible age of 16. Gremio are determined to keep a hold of the player for as long as possible and have used a similar tactic to one used by Santos years ago to retain the services of a young Neymar.

The Gunners have made great use of the Brazilian market since the appointment of Edu Gaspar, most notably with the signing of Gabriel Martinelli. The Brazilian joined Arsenal from Ituano in the fourth division of Brazil for £6million in 2019.

If Arsenal can repeat that success with a deal for Gabriel Mec, then they’ll be on to a winner. The club currently has a very strong core group of Brazilian stars with the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Magalhaes also thriving in North London.

Arsenal sporting director Edu previously served as the general coordinator for the Brazil national team which means he knows the market better than anyone. The club will be hoping he can use his contacts and connections in the Brazilian game to ensure that Arsenal are well positioned to secure Mec’s services when the time comes.
