Arsenal managed to overcome league leaders, Liverpool on the weekend to remain in the Premier League title race with the Gunners now just two points behind Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Bar the mistake at the end of the first-half which gave Liverpool a route back into the game, it was the perfect performance from Mikel Arteta’s side. Arsenal controlled the possession, played the game at their own pace and had the majority of the chances against one of the best teams in the country.
Arsenal deservedly got a huge three points, however the game didn’t come without any negatives unfortunately.
The top of the table clash at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday was a feisty one with referee Anthony Taylor producing ten yellow cards and one red card across the 90 minutes.
Six of those yellow cards were for the Gunners with Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jakub Kiwior all receiving bookings during the game. Due to this, according to I NEWS, the club are set to receive a £25,000 fine from the FA for receiving six cards in one game.
However the good news for Arsenal is that manager, Mikel Arteta has avoided any punishment. Earlier this season the Spaniard was fined and forced to watch a game from the stands after his jubilant celebration away at Luton Town following Declan Rice’s last minute winner.
This time around the FA have chosen not to take any action against the Arsenal manager and Mikel Arteta will be on the touchline for the Gunners next game against West Ham United.
