Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League table with eight games to play, however Mikel Arteta’s side still have some tough away fixtures to come, which they will have to get past if they want to win their first league title in 19 years.
One of them tough away fixtures is Newcastle United at St James’s Park on the 7th May in a 16:30 GMT kick-off.
The Gunners will know all about a tough away fixture at Newcastle as they found out towards the end of last season. Mikel Arteta’s side headed to St James’s Park in May last year, needing a win to secure a Champions League spot for next season.
The fixture got the better of Arsenal that day with Newcastle running out 2-0 winners which meant Spurs pipped Arsenal to a top four spot. However Mikel Arteta’s team is now a year older and with the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko in the squad, the Gunners will be hoping they can produce a different result this time around.
Arsenal have been given a boost ahead of the game next month with Allan Saint-Maximin ruled out of the fixture after suffering a hamstring which will keep him on the sidelines for 4-6 weeks.
Allan Saint-Maximin has caused Premier League defenders all sorts of problems this season so while it’s a boost he’s out, there’s no doubt Arsenal will still have to be at their best if they want to beat this Newcastle team who are in the mix to finish in the top four this season.
